Metro Transit will soon open it latest service product, the Arterial Rapid Bus Transit line. The first, running from Rosedale to 46th Street Station, is called the A-Line. This will quickly be followed by the C-Line, running from Brooklyn Center Transit Center to downtown Minneapolis.
The opening of the A-Line is June 11. Metro Transit will have approximately 300 three hour shifts for the first five days of service. A very small portion of these will be supervisory in nature and will be exclusively the TMSA members. The TMSA exclusive shifts will be picked before the Station Ambassador shifts. The other positions will be Station Ambassador shifts, similar in nature to the Green Line opening. The Station Ambassador shift will be open to all Transit employees who are normally qualified to work Minnesota Twins game Station Ambassador shifts. However, there is one very important exception. The TMSA Board has gained approval that Grade I employees and above will be paid to work these Ambassador shifts. In a recent email, Christy Bailly, Director of Bus Transportation, told me that Brian Lamb is encouraging all Directors and below to work a shift and will be paid accordingly.
Please pay close attention to your email box over the next couple of weeks for an invite to pick a shift. These shifts will be open to all and will go quickly.
I recently attended an A-Line introduction presentation. The farebox and ticket/flash pass are quite different than what you have seen in the past. I would highly recommend that you become familiar with these ticket stations and the new boarding/transfer rules for the flash pass.
